The Municipality of New Lucena received two prestigious distinctions from the Philippine Red Cross–Iloilo Chapter for its sustained commitment to voluntary blood donation and lifesaving humanitarian service.

New Lucena was conferred the Hall of Fame Award in recognition of its significant, substantial, and long-standing contribution to the Blood Service Program of the Philippine Red Cross–Iloilo Chapter and Western Visayas Regional Blood Center.

The municipality also received the Chairman’s Plaque of Recognition after collecting 257 blood units in 2025, equivalent to a 1.05 percent target rate based on its population. This surpassed the Philippine Red Cross target of collecting blood units equivalent to at least one percent of the locality’s population.

The awards were presented on August 14, 2026, in Iloilo City, during the Philippine Red Cross–Iloilo Chapter’s 25th Blood Donors Awarding and Recognition ceremony.

These latest honors build upon New Lucena’s earlier Certificate of Excellence, awarded in 2024 for more than five years of continuous support to the Red Cross blood service program and the collection of more than 700 blood units.

Municipal Mayor Atty. Carl Vincent G. Mondejar, CPA, expressed the municipality’s gratitude to all volunteer blood donors, health workers, barangay officials, partner organizations, municipal employees, and community members who supported New Lucena’s bloodletting activities.

The recognition reflects more than the number of blood units collected. Each donation represents renewed hope for patients undergoing surgery, mothers experiencing childbirth emergencies, accident victims, and individuals receiving treatment for serious medical conditions.

The Municipal Government of New Lucena, in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross and local stakeholders, will continue promoting voluntary blood donation, recruiting new donors, and encouraging qualified residents to donate regularly.

Through collective action and the spirit of UNA New Lucena, the municipality remains committed to building a responsive, compassionate, and life-saving community.
